Advanced Nurse Practitioner – Crane Valley Primary Care Network, Verwood Surgery
Salary: Dependent on experience
Job Type: Part time, Permanent – 20 hours, working Mondays & Fridays

Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join Crane Valley Primary Care Network. The post holder will be employed by Crane Valley PCN and will work for Verwood Surgery. We are looking for a collaborative and innovative ANP to work closely with clinical teams to deliver patient care.
About us
The practice team is made up of 4 Partners, one Salaried GP, four fantastic practice nurses, a surgery frailty worker, Physician’s Associate, Phlebotomists, management team and our administration/reception staff. We are a training practice and also regularly have registrars.
Job Responsibilities
The post-holder will:
- Work independently to offer direct access for the general practice population via triage clinics, conducting appointments either in person or via telephone.
- Serve as the initial point of contact within the Practice for patients presenting with undiagnosed or undifferentiated health issues, utilising skills in history taking, physical examination, problem-solving, and clinical decision-making to establish a diagnosis and develop a management plan, including home visits if needed.
- Participate in a rota to support the triage of daily patient requests, making immediate decisions and redirecting patients to the most suitable clinician within the appropriate timeframe. May include working some extended hours.
- Utilize advanced professional accountability, autonomy, and judgment when assessing and treating patients with diverse situations and conditions.
- Assist in achieving management team objectives where possible.
- Participate in mandatory and internal/external training as required.
- Adhere to all policies and protocols in the Staff Handbook and contract, demonstrating behaviours aligned with Verwood Surgery values.
- Follow Practice Health and Safety guidelines and report any infringements to the H&S lead.
Essential Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
- Recognised Advanced Clinical Practice course - Master’s degree in Advanced Nursing Practice or equivalent. Please see job description for further info.
- Experience in triage or emergency care settings.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of chronic disease management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment and manage competing priorities.

- Prescribing qualification
- Interest in family planning/contraception
